Welcome to Mean Machines Ben! How come that you choose Stockholm for the 2020 season?
- I chose Mean Machines for a few reasons, the first being the club’s reputation. The Mean Machines have been a powerhouse not just in Sweden but in all of Europe since I began playing here in 2017. In November I flew into Stockholm for a few days to meet the team and I was thoroughly impressed with what I saw. Coach Pilbäck was professional and the guys at the import house welcomed me with open arms. I’m also looking forward to living in one of Europe’s most renowned cities. I visited Stockholm last year in the summertime and fell in love with what I saw. It’s very rare to see a metropolitan city so clean and quiet. I really think I’m going to enjoy my time there.

What's your background in football?
- I started football a little later than most. Like all Canadians, I grew up playing hockey. It wasn’t until the end of high school that I started paying the sport any attention. I played a few years in the Canadian Junior Football League and it was my highlights from the Ottawa Sooners that landed me an offer from Spain. I played my 2017 season with the Murcia Cobras and from there went to Germany to play with the Hildesheim Invaders.
- I enjoyed both seasons but for different reasons. Spain was relaxed and fun; Germany felt more like a job. Last season I played in Denmark with the Triangle Razorbacks. It was a phenomenal year filled with incredible people and a National Championship.

How would you describe yourself as a player?
- Two skills I’m constantly striving to incorporate into my game are consistency and versatility. I want to make plays every single game and contribute in more ways than one. Being a good teammate has always been something I’ve prided myself on. I’ve been fortunate enough to play with some fantastic players throughout my football journey and the ones I’ve admired most have always put the team first. At the end of the day, I want the guys to know I have their back, both on and off the field.

What do you know about the Stockholm Mean Machines?
- I’ve been keeping tabs on Mean Machines for a while now so I know a bit about what’s happened in the past few years. But the fact that they’re the oldest and most successful team in all of Sweden means there’s a lot I don’t yet know. I’m looking forward to learning more about the team’s history.

What's your goals and expectations for this upcoming season?
- A national championship, plain and simple. I’m looking forward to playing internationally but I also understand there is a throne to protect.
